Friday night (November 4) is always a special night at the Tournament. It includes the presentation of the Sol Lipkin Award, which this year is being given to Al Salazar. That is followed by the $10,000 cash giveaway, which involves a random drawing in which 50 players win $200 each, courtesy of the Sands Regency. We also have our raffle drawing with prizes that include sets of weights, tournament merchandise, shuffleboard collectibles and a Jacuzzi Suite for 10 nights at the Sands for the next year's Tournament. We would greatly appreciate donations from the shuffleboard community of any items that we can include as prizes in the raffle. If you own a shuffleboard establishment, the donation of a shirt or jacket is a great way to get a little exposure for your business. Last, but certainly not least is the Tournament's 16th anniversary party. Festivities will include free food and a two hour open bar, compliments of the Sands Regency and The Shuffleboard Federation.

I am please to announce that we will have a special guest on hand this year. He is a shuffleboard player from Hawaii, the first time we have had a player from that state. He also served on the USS Theodore Roosevelt in the early 1960's. The USS Theodore Roosevelt is the Polaris class submarine which American Shuffleboard Company installed a shuffleboard table on. He played on that table and looks forward to seeing Sol and sharing his memories about that table, which some of you have seen Sol's pictures of.
