A funny thing happened about 10 years ago. Funny peculiar not funny ha ha. The previous owners of the Fir Cone, Mel & Jeanette Hohn decided to change the Mixed Doubles to an A-B Draw. The shuffleboard community went nuts; how could they mess with tradition, what about the women who love mixed tournaments? The change was reversed to please the masses. However, on the 20th anniversary, the masses have once again chosen. Only this time they chose by being absent. Therefore, the once popular mixed doubles was changed to the delight of the present players to an A-B Draw. I guess things just work them self’s out, if left alone.
There was an A-B Draw on Friday night, and once again if things are left alone…..? Mel & Jeanette Hohn not only draw each other, but also win. What can you say?
Saturday morning the decision was made to go with an A-B Draw, and play began shortly there after. Nels Anderson and Gary DuPont earned first place honors, and Claire Kenney and Jim “007” Thorton finished second. All in all it was a fun tournament worth doing again. Sorry but there are no pictures available for this tournament
The next tournament at Ernie’s Fir Cone Bar & Grill is the Masters in February
