Just wanted you to know that Jolene Lembke past away this morning (3/23/2010) approximately 10:00 am Pacific Time. Jolene was a true pioneer for the shuffleboard community. She was one of the first roving reporters for the Board Talk and was responsible for several new subscriptions across the states. She was also the first President of the California Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. These were just a couple of the many other wonderful accomplishments that Jolene achieved inher life time. I will always be grateful for her trust in myself for handing over the CSHOF presidency. I will remember her for her warmth and friendship, but most of all, I will miss all the great stories and jokes that she would always share.
Our thoughts and prayers goes out to Jolene's family. She will forever hold a special place in my heart.
Jim Martin, CSHOF Pres
Woodie, his brother Delane from Portland, niece Karen from Tulsa, Jolene's sons Mike of the home & Chuck from Ohio were all at the Eagles club last night.
As of this time, there are no plans for a memorial in Spfld. She has been cremated and her wishes are to have her ashes spread into a river in California were her late husband, Roy ashes were spread and they would meet again in the ocean.
In February, MSPA had elected her as a legand into the hall of fame. Due to her health issues, we were going to present this award to her at Springfield tournament in May. It was to be a surprise and she was unaware of the honor. Woodie asked to be the recipient of this award, and would perfer to have it done at the normal time in September at the Hall of Fame. It would make it easier for some of them to travel at a later date in the year due to all of the afore mentioned memorial plans.
If any of the plans change this week, Woodie said he would call me and let me know so I might forward these plans to everyone
