Exeter, California July 1, 2010 through July 4, 2010
The turn out was lighter than usual for the tournament and I am sure it was due to many reasons, but it was exciting for most. There were a total of 50 different players in the three events. There wasn't enough time to have the optional 4 person team event. Besides the two home boards there were two boards furnished by Marion Bailey and two boards furnished by Dave Keithhan. There was one returning player (Sal Reynoso) and 12 new players this year. The Eagles are doing a really good job of promoting and teaching our favorite sport.
There are many people I wish to thank. Charlene Goldsmith for her wonderful donation of two diamond rings. One of which was raffled to raise $365 for the California Hall of Fame fund. Thank you so very much Charlene for all your support and thoughtfulness. And to Wes Martin and Ty Bayne for their help in planning and help see that the tournament came off with out any problems. Then there is Bob Brunskill, thanks Bob for another outstanding job on the bracket boards. We wish to thank Paul Panholzer for donating his hand made weight case for donation. Paul was unable to attend the tournament due to his health and we are all praying for you Paul. We pray for a speedy recovery and hope to see you back soon. Last but certainly not least, we wish to thank all the people that prepared all the great food for us.
One of the high lights of the tournament was the induction ceremony of James "Long Beach Jim" McDonald into the California Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. The ceremony was opened by Wes Martin and then turned over to the master of ceremony, Rick Thomas. After the guess speakers, Marion Bailey, Robbie Gann, Troy Tolbert and Wes Martin spoke, Jim Martin presented the plaque to Jim's Daughter, Ronda Fitzwater and son, Dan McDonald. There was also a moment of silence held in memory of Paul Weber.
What a great job ladies and gentlemen.
